Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Maryland’s 1st district, shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing recent policy decisions and economic news.

On July 29, 2025, Harris criticized proposed regulations affecting vehicle manufacturing and energy independence. He stated, "These rules would have forced higher vehicle prices, stifled manufacturing, and burdened innovation all while lining the pockets of bureaucrats. This isn’t just deregulation—it’s a reclamation of American energy and industrial independence."

The following day, July 30, Harris commented on the nation’s economic performance in the second quarter of 2025. He posted, "Strong Q2 growth! The U.S. economy grew at a 3% rate, beating expectations. Pro-growth policies and America First trade speak louder than the spin of today’s so-called 'experts.'"

Later that same day, Harris addressed state-level concerns about crime in Maryland by writing: "While dangerous criminals and MS-13 gang members poured into our state, these Maryland lawmakers chose political theater over real solutions."

Harris has represented Maryland's 1st District since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and now residing in Cambridge, Harris is also an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University.
