Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 28 and 29, 2025, addressing immigration enforcement and state legislation.

On July 28, Harris criticized Maryland Democrats for their stance on immigration enforcement: "They won’t sit at the border to stop criminal illegals from coming in—but they’ll sit outside ICE to keep them from going out. Maryland Democrats: Never on the side of law and order—always on the side of illegals."

The following day, he addressed state legislation and media coverage: "Marylanders deserve the truth about the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) — and they’re not getting it from the mainstream media. Here’s what the bill will do for Maryland "

Later that morning, Harris commented on a recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) action: "Another dangerous criminal—caught by ICE. A convicted sex offender is off the streets thanks to ICE @EROBaltimore ICE is making our communities safer. This is why we back them."

Harris has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate between 1999 and 2011. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris currently resides in Cambridge, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
