Rep. Andy Harris, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, has posted a series of statements on social media highlighting recent legislative actions and policy positions under President Trump’s administration.

On July 18, 2025, Harris credited the president for recent congressional action: "Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, Congress passed the Rescissions Act. The Rescissions Act claws back BILLIONS in waste & finally defunds NPR & PBS. Promises Made. Waste Rescinded."

Two days later, on July 20, Harris praised what he described as significant changes during Trump's first half-year in office: " 6 MONTHS. HISTORIC RESULTS. President Trump is delivering one of the most transformative first 6 months in American history: Hundreds of executive actions — crushing Biden’s woke agenda $9B rescinded from waste, NPR/PBS & foreign aid Border security restored &"

Also on July 20, Harris addressed gender-transition procedures for minors: "Ending gender-transition procedures for minors is common sense. Children need protection, not experimental, irreversible treatments driven by radical ideology."

Harris has served in Congress since succeeding Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously held positions in the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 1999 to 2011. He was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University (FACTS FOR STEP 4).
