Representative Andy Harris, who has served Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, recently shared a series of statements on social media addressing both national events and fiscal policy. Harris, born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, has also held positions in the Maryland Senate and House of Representatives.

On July 13, 2025, Harris marked the anniversary of an incident in Butler, Pennsylvania involving former President Donald Trump. He stated: "One year ago in Butler, PA, evil struck— but it failed. God’s hand was on that field. President Trump’s life was spared and the MAGA movement was preserved for such a time as this. Today, we give thanks for the victory of life over darkness."

The following day, July 14, 2025, Harris called for legislative action regarding government spending by urging: "Defend the Taxpayers. Pass the Rescissions."

On July 15, 2025, he reiterated his stance on fiscal restraint with another statement: "Rein in. Roll Back. Pass the Rescissions."

Harris is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and has been active in public service for several decades.
