Rep. Andy Harris, who has represented Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, recently commented on developments concerning the Maryland offshore wind project. In a series of posts made on July 11 and July 12, 2025, Harris addressed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) findings and reiterated his constituents' opposition to offshore wind initiatives.

On July 11, 2025, Rep. Harris stated that "The EPA has confirmed what many of us knew for years — the Maryland offshore wind project was approved with glaring flaws. This is a major victory for the Eastern Shore, the environment, and our local economies that are threatened by this project."

Later that day, Harris emphasized constituent concerns regarding offshore wind projects in another post: "For years, my constituents across the First Congressional District have been overwhelmingly clear: they do not want offshore wind off their coast." This statement further highlighted local resistance to such projects.

On July 12, 2025, Harris announced an upcoming appearance on FOX Baltimore to discuss recent EPA findings: " I’ll be on @FOXBaltimore around 8:15AM to discuss the EPA’s finding that US Wind’s offshore permit was issued in error. Don’t miss it—tune in!"

Andy Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977. Prior to serving in Congress since 2011, he served in both chambers of the Maryland legislature from 1999 to 2011.
