Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, shared his views on several topics via social media posts. These posts highlight his perspectives on historical events, fiscal policies, and immigration issues.

On June 6, 2025, Rep. Harris commemorated the anniversary of D-Day with a tribute to those who participated in the Normandy landings during World War II. He stated, "Today, we remember the brave souls who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defend freedom and defeat tyranny. Their courage changed the course of history. Their sacrifice must never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all."

Later that day, he expressed criticism over government spending related to immigration enforcement. In a post dated June 6, 2025, he remarked on what he perceived as an inefficient use of taxpayer funds: "What a waste of hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Bringing an already deported illegal alien criminal back to the US to be housed in a US jail at taxpayer expense so he can stand trial and then be deported back to his homeland."

On June 7, 2025, Rep. Harris addressed concerns about national fiscal policy amidst significant budget deficits. He emphasized the need for financial discipline by stating: "In an era of unrelenting $2 trillion deficits, fiscal restraint has to start, and it has to start now."

Rep. Andy Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.
