On June 3, 2025, Rep. Harris highlighted concerns about sweetened beverages in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). He stated, "More evidence that sweetened beverages should definitely be limited in SNAP."
Later that day, Rep. Harris expressed his stance on government spending with a call to action. He tweeted, "Let’s get this done. It is time to cut waste, eliminate Washington’s reckless spending, and protect your taxpayer dollars."

Rep. Andy Harris has been serving Maryland's 1st District since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011.
