Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, has expressed concerns over recreational and medical marijuana as well as environmental issues through his social media platform.
On June 18, 2025, Rep. Harris shared his cautionary stance on marijuana by stating "As yet another reason to be very cautious about recreational marijuana and inflated claims about medical marijuana."
The following day, on June 19, 2025, he addressed environmental concerns regarding marine life and offshore wind industry practices. He stated "Tragic. Marine animals are washing up on our shores — and I don’t believe it’s a coincidence. The offshore wind industry is blasting our oceans with noise, disrupting migration, feeding and mating patterns, and endangering marine life. It’s time to put a stop to this reckless" activity.
