Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, recently shared his perspectives on various issues via social media. His posts address concerns ranging from accountability in government to immigration policies and fiscal responsibility.

On May 16, 2025, Rep. Harris expressed dissatisfaction with former FBI Director James Comey’s explanation of certain actions. He stated "I don’t accept [James Comey’s] weak explanation. The bottom line is this was provocative and he should know better than that. He has to be made responsible for this." This statement was made during an appearance on Real America’s Voice.

Later the same day, Rep. Harris commented on immigration and public safety issues at 20:51 UTC. He claimed "While Democrats are flying to El Salvador to bring MS-13 gang members TO Maryland, ICE is getting MS-13 gang members OFF our streets." Harris emphasized the importance of deporting criminal illegal aliens to maintain community safety.

At 21:17 UTC on May 16, Rep. Harris addressed economic concerns following Moody's downgrade of America's debt rating. He highlighted the urgency of tackling the national debt crisis by stating "Moody’s downgrade of America’s debt is a signal that we can wait no longer to address the debt crisis." He criticized what he referred to as "the waste of the Green New Scam" and the misuse associated with Medicaid Obamacare.

Harris has served in Congress since succeeding Frank Kratovil in 2011 after serving in both chambers of Maryland's legislature from 1999 until his congressional election.
