Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland's 1st district since 2011, recently shared his views on fiscal policy and immigration via social media. Known for his conservative stance, Harris has served in Congress following a tenure in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011.

On May 9, 2025, Rep. Harris expressed his opinion on tax policy by stating "Personally, I’ve always believed that if we can’t find spending reductions elsewhere, we should look at restoring the pre TCJA tax bracket on million dollar income to help pay for the President’s agenda." This statement reflects his perspective on balancing fiscal responsibility with funding governmental agendas.

Later that day, he addressed issues within Medicaid by asserting "The majority of Americans agree: Waste, fraud, and abuse should be ROOTED out of the Medicaid program." He emphasized the Republican opportunity to protect Medicaid for those in genuine need.

On May 10, 2025, Harris commented on immigration policies with strong language against Democratic actions. He claimed "Democrats will assault law enforcement to keep criminal illegal aliens in the U.S." and accused them of prioritizing "criminal illegal aliens over U.S. citizens every single time."

Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a BS degree obtained in 1977, he continues to serve as a vocal representative of Maryland's interests.
