Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 1st district since 2011, recently shared insights on his activities and views through a series of tweets. Born in New York City in 1957 and residing in Cambridge, Harris has a background in medicine and politics, having previously served in the Maryland Senate.

On May 6, 2025, Rep. Harris tweeted about welcoming the Maryland Farm Bureau leadership team to his Washington DC office for discussions regarding agricultural industry issues pertinent to his district. He stated, "It was great to welcome the Maryaland Farm Bureau leadership team to my Washington DC office to discuss my district’s agricultural industry and engage on key policy issues. Welcome to DC!"

Later that day, he addressed Medicaid spending as outlined in the Republican budget resolution via another tweet. He mentioned an increase in Medicaid spending by at least 25% over the next decade while emphasizing efforts to combat fraud within the system: "In the Republican budget resolution, Medicaid spending is increased by at least 25% over the next 10 years... Yes, we will fight fraud, waste, and abuse." He further noted that such fraudulent activities detract resources from vulnerable groups including disabled individuals and children.

On May 7, Rep. Harris posted a brief tweet containing only an emoji: "" The context or intent behind this post remains unspecified.
