Rep. Andy Harris, MD, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Maryland's 1st district since 2011, shared insights into his role and perspectives regarding recent political developments on May 5, 2025. On May 5, 2025, Rep. Andy Harris tweeted about the Freedom Caucus's willingness to make tough decisions: "In the end, the Freedom Caucus has always been willing to say no when it had to. Our group was able to pull the conference in a direction that it needed to go in order to deliver the votes necessary." He referenced an article by USA Today that discussed five Republicans who significantly influenced Trump's first 100 days in office.

Later that day, he further expressed confidence in the relationship between the Freedom Caucus and former President Trump’s administration. In a tweet posted at 16:19 UTC on May 5, Harris stated: “I think the Trump administration realizes that we're the group that most strongly supports President Trump and his agenda.” This comment highlights Harris's continued support for Trump's policies and leadership.

Born in New York City in 1957, Andy Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
