Representative Andy Harris, a U.S. Congressman serving Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, has recently addressed the topic of immigration on social media. His statements reflect his stance on immigration policies and his interactions with constituents on the matter.

In a tweet dated April 17, 2025, Harris expressed his view on the Democratic party's approach to immigration. He stated, “The Democrats want to coddle illegal immigrants. That’s the bottom line.” He mentioned Abrego Garcia, identifying him as a citizen of El Salvador who returned to his home country where Harris believes he belongs.

Later the same day, Harris posted about an encounter with a veteran. On April 17, 2025, he wrote, "Just ran into a 73 year-old Marine veteran who is furious that our senator is spending taxpayer dollars trying to bring an illegal alien gang member back into our country." The veteran reportedly expressed pride in his service to the country while questioning the current state of law and morality.

Also on April 17, 2025, Harris shared his thoughts on the future of a deported MS-13 gang member, asserting that it is now in the hands of El Salvador. He linked to an article on Just The News with the caption “Rep. Andy Harris: Future of deported MS-13 gang member is in El Salvador’s hands.”

Harris, who was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge, Maryland, has a background that includes serving in the Maryland Legislature before his tenure in Congress. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
