Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland's 1st district since 2011, shared his views on various political matters through social media posts in March 2025. Harris, who succeeded Frank Kratovil and previously served in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011, is an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University.
On March 13, Rep. Harris expressed his honor at meeting with officials from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), including Secretary Rollins. He highlighted what he perceives as a "historic opportunity" under the Trump administration to prioritize the needs of rural America and the agricultural community. "It was an honor to meet with @USDA @SecRollins this week... we have a historic opportunity to restore rural America."
In another post dated March 14, Rep. Harris criticized President Biden's handling of border security compared to former President Trump. He claimed that "illegal aliens evading border patrol" were significantly higher under Biden's administration than Trump's, suggesting that Biden had the authority to close the border but chose not to exercise it. "Illegal aliens evading border patrol: Under President Biden: 1,800 per day... Under President Trump: 77 per day."
Later on March 14, Harris discussed recent achievements by conservatives in Congress. He noted that for the first time during his tenure in Congress, a Continuing Resolution was passed that freezes spending while still providing funds for military and veterans' services. He attributed this success to unity among conservatives and their commitment to delivering on President Trump's agenda. "Conservatives are united, winning, and ready to deliver on President Trump’s agenda like never before."
