Rep. Andy Harris, MD, has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 1st district since 2011. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris is an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University and currently resides in Cambridge.
On January 29, Rep. Andy Harris announced via Twitter that "The Laken Riley Act is now officially the law of the land." He added, "President Trump promised to make America safe again—and he’s doing just that."
The following day, on January 30, Harris expressed his concern over a recent incident near Reagan Airport by stating on Twitter, "Tonight, my prayers are with those involved in the collision near the Reagan Airport as well as the First Responders, rescue crews, and families."
On January 31, Rep. Harris continued to address this tragic event through another tweet, saying: "My prayers continue to be with everyone impacted by this devastating collision and with the families of the Marylanders who lost their loved ones in this tragedy."
