Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris M.D. (MD-01) released the following statement following his line of questioning in a House Appropriations hearing in which Acting Director of the National Institute of Health (NIH), Laurence Tabak, admitted that due to the scientific purposes of clinical studies, it’s important to enroll men and women separately based on their sex assigned at birth rather than their stated gender identity.

The remarks came during the Budget & Oversight Hearing – Fiscal Year 2024 Request For The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention, Administration For Strategic Preparedness And Response, And National Institute Of Health  in which Dr. Tabak was pressed on the importance of enrolling genders separately when conducting clinical studies.

Congressman Harris Statement: “Dr. Tabak’s admission that the sex assigned at birth is still needed to conduct accurate scientific research in clinical studies further proves that woke gender identity is not based on science, but rather part of the woke ideology that is running rampant in the Biden Administration. As a physician who has conducted NIH level research, it is common knowledge that any scientist must know the difference between X and Y chromosomes while researching and the use of reproductive biology is critical in determining a scientifically sound outcome.”
