TOWN OF BEL AIR: Bel Air Historic Preservation Commission Agrees to a New Mural for Black Eyed Suzie's

Announcement

Town of Bel Air issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.

On Thursday, October 25, the Bel Air Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) held their regularly scheduled meeting to review the results of paint removal from Black Eyed Suzie's. Brian Acquavella appeared at the meeting to propose the application of a Maryland themed flag mural over the previous one on the older (historic) portion of the building and stated that he is open to design changes. He stated that removal of both layers of paint would be extremely expensive and he would prefer to apply a new mural instead. The HPC agreed that removal of both layers of paint would most likely not achieve their desire to return the building to its original unpainted condition. Based on Mr. Acquavella's proposal, the HPC allowed the proposed mural using more muted colors and permitted Black Eyed Suzie's to proceed once his final version is approved by selected representatives of the Town.
