Harford County Agricultural Preservation Advisory Board met July 3.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Attendees: Board: John Stump, Dave Keyes, Jeff Holloway, Zach Rose
Staff: Bill Amoss
The meeting was called to order; a quorum was established at 7:00pm at Keyes Creamery.
Meeting notes from the June 2018 meeting were reviewed. Dave Dougherty moved for approval as presented, Jeff Holloway seconded. Motion passed.
Board reviewed request from Hopkins Brewery for a new brewery and tasting barn to be located on their farm off 155 at 3853 Level Road Havre de Grace MD. The building plans and location in the middle of the farm and access use of a current farm road was reviewed with the drawings of a barn style structure of 5,000 sq. ft. total, ½ production and other ½ tasting room, office and bathrooms. Twenty eight paved parking spaces in front of building with overflow to use adjoining grass field all to be within one acre in size including storm water/water quality structures. Building was designed for up to 75 person occupancy and hopefully will be completed in 2019 for opening; there is no kitchen as part of this request. The current barn on the farm will continue to be used as a malting floor operation as part of the beer production. Many of the family members were present to answer questions on the production side and their goals of opening the brewery to the public on the farm. Family understands that they will need to get all other approvals and permits from county and state agencies, including P&Z use permits, DLP permits, State Fire Marshall and Health requirements. Jeff Holloway motioned for approval and Dave Dougherty 2nd, board approved as presented.
Staff updated board on County settlement progress, as well as MALPF updates and Rural Legacy. MALPF inspections are complete for 2018 and Rural Legacy ones will start the first week in September.
Meeting adjourn at 8:45pm
