Aberdeen City Council met July 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

A) CALL TO ORDER

The Mayor called the Council Work Session to order at 4:50 p.m. in the second floor administrative conference room.

B) ROLL CALL

C) BUSINESS TOPICS

C.1 Report from Dr. Sheldon Greenberg and Mr. Charles DeVita, Powhatan Group Dr. Greenberg and Mr. DeVita discussed their assessment of the Aberdeen Police Department which included the following suggestions: a 3-5 year strategy akin with the City’s vision; a staffing review; IT and technical support; support for data analysis; and continuance of CALEA accreditation with maximization of the process. Council discussion followed.

C.2 Report from Athan Sunderland, Executive VP, Huntley Sports Group (HSG) 

Mr. Sunderland reported on the management of events at the Stadium during 2018. He requested an extension of HSG's agreement into 2019 and permission to talk to Tufton Professional Baseball LLC about arrangements and issuing contracts. Council discussion followed. The Mayor instructed Mr. Sunderland to prepare an agreement to permit HSG to solicit, market, and plan City and community events for calendar year 2019 for review by the City Manager, the Council, and City Attorney.

The Council then discussed the agenda topics for the July 9, 2018 Council Meeting. The City Manager briefed the Council on property matters and opportunities.

D) ADJOURNMENT: Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
