ARUNDEL HIGH SCHOOL: Wrestling County Championship – Wildcats within a half point of 1st after day 1

Arundel High School issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.

The varsity Wildcat wrestling team sits in second place after day 1 of the 2 day county championship tournament. Seven of the fourteen wrestlers are in the semi-finals which take place tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

Two wrestlers completed upset wins while also extracting revenge on their opponents faced versus South River last week in the team regional duels. After getting pinned last week , Sean Quinn (120) proved he belongs in the mix with his 11-6 win and Clint Mills (182) took his opponent to overtime for a sudden victory, 8-6. Both Quinn and Mills are in the semi-finals.

Also in the semi-finals are Caleb Chaves (132), Trevor Gagnon (152), Valentino Pryor (170), Amir Conwell (220) and Nate Kloss (285).

Still in the mix are the other 7 wrestlers who have started their bid to wrestle back for no better then a 3rd place finish.

Team Standings after Friday night:

Chesapeake 79.5, Arundel 79, South River 73, Old Mill 64, Annapolis 63, Broadneck 59, Southern 54, North County 52, Northeast 52, Severna Park 37, Glen Burnie 33, Meade 4.
