Congressman Andy Harris has expressed support for the Trump Administration’s recent action to vacate the Biden Administration’s approval of the US Wind Offshore project off Maryland’s coast. The move represents a significant development in a longstanding debate about the wind farm, which has faced opposition from Ocean City officials, fishermen, business leaders, and residents who argue it could negatively impact the Eastern Shore’s economy and environment.
“I applaud the Trump Administration’s decision to vacate the Biden Administration’s reckless approval of the US Wind Offshore project. This is a victory for the people of Ocean City and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, who were consistently ignored by federal bureaucrats pushing this offshore project without proper local input or approval. Offshore wind poses serious risks to our coastal economy, marine environment, national security, and the livelihoods of watermen. I thank President Trump for standing up for my constituents and will continue working with him and his administration to end this project once and for all,” Harris said in a statement.
Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 1999 to 2011. Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. He earned his BS from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
