The Freedom Truck 250, a traveling museum highlighting American independence, will be in Bel Air from May 11 to May 13, according to a May 5 announcement. The exhibit will be located at American Legion Post 39 and is free for all ages.
The event aims to educate visitors about the nation’s founding principles and celebrate the upcoming America 250 milestone. Features of the museum include an artificial intelligence-powered portrait of George Washington, interactive displays, a wall of heroes, and reproductions of key historical documents.
County Executive Bob Cassilly said, “Freedom Truck 250 is an exciting opportunity to learn about and celebrate America 250 and the principles of freedom, equality, limited government, the rule of law, and individual responsibility that make this country great.” Cassilly also said his administration supports the initiative and encouraged families as well as community groups to attend.
The Freedom Truck will arrive on Sunday, May 10 with an escort by motorcycle-riding members of American Legion Riders from Post 39. Public visiting hours are scheduled for Monday (May 11) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday (May 12) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday (May 13) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will also feature music and food trucks during select times.
Dr. Ned Hoedebecke, second vice-commander at American Legion Post 39 said, “American Legion Post 39 is honored to have been selected to host Freedom Truck 250 in Harford County. We hope to see many citizens visit and take pride in American history.” Parking for attendees is available at the nearby Bel Air Parking Garage on S. Hickory Avenue.
