Harford County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

Harford County Executive Barry Glassman presented a $12,300 contribution to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation on November 5 to help build a Wall of Remembrance that will be incorporated into the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC. According to the Foundation, Harford is the first county in the United States to contribute to the project, which will include the names of 36,574 Americans who gave their lives during the conflict from 1950 – 1953, including 30 from Harford County.

“Harford County is proud to honor our fallen heroes and all Americans who gave their lives in the Korean War,” County Executive Barry Glassman said. “As the incoming president of the Maryland Association of Counties, I encourage our fellow counties to join this effort. Together we can lead the nation in helping future generations remember the Korean War and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
