Rep. Andy Harris, chair of the House Freedom Caucus and U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, recently reiterated his support for federal spending cuts through rescissions packages in a series of posts on social media.

On July 22, Harris posted: “I strongly support more rescissions packages to cut spending and protect America’s financial future.” He referenced further details available in The Daily Signal.

The following day, July 23, Harris shared an update about his position as caucus chair: “Rep. Andy Harris the chair of the House Freedom Caucus, said in an interview Tuesday he was looking forward to receiving the rescissions from the administration.”

Later that morning, he addressed concerns about potential impacts on public services: Protecting taxpayers does not mean cutting care for those who need it. Don’t buy the Left’s fearmongering.

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris holds a BS from Johns Hopkins University (source: FACTS FOR STEP 4).
