Rep. Andy Harris, who has represented Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2011, recently posted a series of updates on his social media account addressing issues ranging from local winter weather resources to international safety concerns and national politics.

The following day, February 24, 2026, Harris addressed reports of violence in Mexico and relayed official advice for U.S. citizens in affected areas. He stated, “My team and I are closely following reports of violence in parts of Mexico. The U.S. Department of State has advised U.S. citizens in Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León to shelter in place. Marylanders in these areas who need assistance can contact our”.

On February 25, 2026, Harris commented on national policy under former President Trump: “President Trump has delivered REAL results for the American people: a more secure border and a safer nation.”

Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge at age 66. Before joining Congress by succeeding Frank Kratovil in 2011, he served both in the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. He is also an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University where he earned his BS degree in 1977.
