Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted several updates on his official Twitter account in early April 2026.
On April 1, Harris acknowledged a significant national achievement by posting: “Congratulations to the Artemis II crew on a successful launch — a historic moment for America as we return to the moon. Keeping them in our prayers for a safe and successful mission.”
The following day, on April 2, he addressed students in his district with an announcement regarding an ongoing art contest: “Calling all MD-01 high school students There’s still time to submit your artwork for the Congressional Art Competition. Deadline: Friday, April 24, 2026. More info below.”
On April 3, Harris marked Good Friday with a message reflecting on its significance: “Good Friday is a time to remember the sacrifice of the cross and the price that was paid. I hope you all have a peaceful Good Friday.”
Harris has served Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil and previously held office in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 through 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
