Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving Maryland’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, posted a series of statements on social media reflecting on the legacy of Charlie Kirk and expressing views on international policy regarding Palestine.
On September 21, 2025, Harris announced his upcoming appearance on Newsmax to discuss a memorial service for Charlie Kirk. He wrote, “Coming up on @NEWSMAX around 7:40PM to talk about the powerful service we witnessed today honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk. Tune in!”
The following day, Harris commented on Kirk’s influence among young people, stating in a post dated September 22, 2025: “There was a hunger in young people—for truth, for purpose, for something greater. They found it in Charlie Kirk.”
Later that morning, Harris addressed international developments related to Middle East diplomacy. In a tweet posted at 11:32 AM UTC on September 22, he stated: “It is a grave mistake for any nation to unilaterally recognize ‘Palestine’ as a state. Such decisions not only reward terrorism — they undermine the security of our ally Israel and embolden violent actors like Hamas who have no interest in peace.”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Before joining Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.
