Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media between September 9 and 10, 2025, addressing issues ranging from offshore wind energy to public safety and immigration.
On September 9, Harris shared concerns about renewable energy projects, stating, “Offshore wind is more than a bad investment—it’s a national security risk. My full speech https://t.co/ebCkBDQlG2”.
The following day, Harris acknowledged the efforts of the President regarding public safety in Washington D.C., writing on September 10: “Thank you @POTUS for your leadership in making D.C. safe and removing criminals from our streets and neighborhoods.”
Later that day, he commented on crime and immigration policy by referencing a specific case: “Not a ‘random dead girl.’ Kayla Hamilton was a young woman, full of life, murdered by an illegal alien, MS-13 gang member because Democrat leaders refused to secure the border and deport violent criminals.”
Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
