Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, praised the Trump Administration and federal officials for their support of rural communities and efforts to combat invasive species in a series of posts on August 6, 2025.

In one post, Harris stated, “The Trump Administration continues to prove it is the STRONGEST ally rural America has ever had. Thank you to @SecRollins and @USDA for making $6 million available to fight back against the invasive blue catfish species that’s threatening our native fisheries and the Chesapeake” (August 6, 2025).

He followed up with a link for additional information: “Read More: https://t.co/iqNbxVWlty” (August 6, 2025).

Later that day, Harris added another message of gratitude: “Marylanders are grateful for the partnership and support of @USDA and @SecRollins—true champions for our farmers, watermen, and agricultural communities. Rural America has no greater ally than the Trump Administration.” (August 6, 2025).

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris currently resides in Cambridge and holds a BS from Johns Hopkins University.

Harford County held its biennial EMPOWERED Expo on April 11 at Bel Air High School. The event connected over 150 teens and young adults with differing abilities—and their families—to resources supporting independence. More than 45 exhibitors participated in providing guidance on education plans, employment options, financial planning tools like ABLE accounts, guardianship alternatives, and state service eligibility.
