Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several messages on social media addressing community engagement and national policy issues.

On December 11, 2025, Harris acknowledged the work of local emergency responders, stating, “Great to meet with volunteer firefighters from across the Shore today. Their service keeps our Eastern Shore communities safe, and I’m thankful for their dedicated work.”

The following day, on December 12, he addressed federal funding for abortion services: “The bottom line is the majority of Americans believe you shouldn’t be using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions.”

On December 13, Harris recognized a military milestone by posting: “Happy Birthday to the @USNationalGuard”.

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature. He was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
