Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media in mid-October highlighting support for Maryland farmers, recognition of Columbus Day, and a television appearance to discuss international affairs.
On October 12, Harris acknowledged the contributions of local farmers in a message marking National Farmers Day. He wrote, “Maryland’s farmers are the backbone of the Eastern Shore and the heart of our economy. On National Farmers Day, we thank every farmer who feeds our communities and sustains our state’s proud agricultural heritage.”
The following day, October 13, he posted a brief message celebrating the federal holiday: “Happy Columbus Day!”
Later on October 13, Harris announced an upcoming appearance on NEWSMAX: ” Coming up on @NEWSMAX around 5PM to talk about the historic peace deal and the return of the hostages. Tune in!”
Andy Harris has served in Congress since 2011, following his tenure in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. He was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. Harris earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
