Rep. Andy Harris, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, has recently used his social media platform to highlight recent policy actions by President Trump and his administration.

On August 18, 2025, Harris posted about the administration’s new tax legislation: “President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill delivers the largest tax cuts in years, putting more money back in the pockets of hardworking Americans and fueling our economy.”

The following day, on August 19, 2025, Harris thanked government officials for their stance on solar energy projects: “Thank you, Secretary Rollins and President Trump, for stopping taxpayer dollars from funding solar projects on farmland and blocking foreign-made panels from our fields. This is a major win for America’s farmers and the future of our food supply.”

On August 20, 2025, Harris commented on law enforcement efforts at the border: “That’s 100,000 patriots ready to enforce our laws, secure the border, and keep our communities safe. We need this kind of commitment now more than ever.”

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011. Prior to serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Maryland House of Representatives and Senate between 1999 and 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge at age 66, Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
