Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight upcoming community events and legislative initiatives, as well as express support for federal law enforcement.
On August 2, 2025, Harris announced the launch of a new event: “Mark your calendars! The Great American Farmers Market launches August 3rd with a celebration of 250 years of farming and freedom. Go to the National Mall from 4–8PM for local produce, great food, and patriotic fun! @USDA @SecRollins”
The following day, on August 4, he addressed public discourse around Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. In his post he stated: “ICE agents put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe and uphold the rule of law. While the Left attacks them for doing their job, we stand with the men and women of ICE.”
Later that same day, Harris promoted a legislative measure aimed at providing tax relief to Maryland residents. He wrote: “The Big Beautiful Bill means real tax relief for working Marylanders. No taxes on tips — more money in workers’ pockets Tax relief for seniors — protecting retirement security No tax on overtime pay It’s your money—we’re making sure it stays that way.”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil in Congress. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.
