Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted new federal investments in rural health care through a series of posts on September 15, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 18:52 UTC, Harris stated, “Rural America deserves a health system that meets its needs. With $50B from @POTUS, the Rural Health Transformation Program will ensure families have access to quality care close to home.”
Later that day at 22:48 UTC, he reiterated the importance of recent policy initiatives by posting “Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, we are delivering an unprecedented investment in rural health care. As a physician, I know how vital rural hospitals and clinics are to my constituents in Maryland’s First District. This program will foster innovation and ensure”.

Harris has served as Maryland’s 1st district representative since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil and previously held positions in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature. He was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. Harris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University (1977).
