Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Maryland’s 1st district, used his social media platform in October 2025 to criticize Democrats and Governor Moore regarding recent government shutdown developments.
The following day, on October 10, he further addressed the issue by highlighting caucus unity: “On the call, Harris said that the move was an opportunity to ‘show the unity and resolve of the Freedom Caucus in opposing the Democrats’ agenda.’ More in the @DC_Reporter with @MatthewFoldi https://t.co/zml1gx54J3”
Continuing his commentary on October 11, Harris expressed support for former President Trump amid ongoing disputes over government funding: “Despite the radical Left’s efforts to keep the government closed and block pay for our troops, President Trump is delivering. Thank you, Mr. President! https://t.co/8Gz4oYCZrS”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil. He previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 through 2011. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris holds a BS from Johns Hopkins University (1977) and currently resides in Cambridge.
