Rep. Andy Harris, MD, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several statements on his social media account regarding federal policy and legislative developments.

On August 1, 2025, Harris praised a recent decision by the Trump administration, stating: “A great move by the Trump administration which will protect coastal communities and taxpayers from risky, foreign-controlled projects”.

Later that day, he commented on new legislation affecting seniors’ finances: “The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers meaningful tax relief for seniors, ensuring they keep more of their retirement income. Seniors have spent their lives working and paying into the system; they deserve to keep more of what they’ve earned.”

On August 2, 2025, Harris referenced an article about congressional dynamics: “A strong and honest breakdown of the House Freedom Caucus you won’t find in the mainstream media. Great article that cuts through the noise https://t.co/vEsJYvzDde”

Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris holds a BS degree from Johns Hopkins University.
