Rep. Andy Harris, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 1st District since 2011, has shared his views on current political and economic issues through a series of tweets. These tweets reflect his stance on national finance, taxation, and border policy under the present U.S. administration.

On March 29, 2025, Rep. Andy Harris expressed concern about the national deficit in an interview with Fox Business. He stated, “Running a $2 Trillion deficit, we have to make sure we are not spending money where we are not supposed to.” His remarks highlight the importance of scrutinizing government expenditures amidst growing financial challenges.

In another tweet dated March 31, 2025, Harris criticized Maryland Democrats’ view on taxation and patriotism. He conveyed skepticism towards their assertion, quoting their perspective, “The most patriotic thing you can do is not the Pledge of Allegiance, is not singing the Star Spangled Banner — but paying your fair share in taxes.” Harris commented further, “Unbelievable. Nothing screams ‘patriotism’ like being forced to give the government more of your paycheck.”

On the same day, Harris remarked on border conditions under the current administration, noting a decrease in congestion at the California-Mexico border. He tweeted, “California-Mexico border, once overwhelmed, now nearly empty.” and added, “Turns out, all we needed was a new President. “
