Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, has used his social media platform in December 2025 to express support for former President Donald Trump’s policies and to comment on public safety and economic issues in Maryland.
On December 9, Harris posted appreciation for Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts: “Thank you, President Trump, for taking decisive action to remove violent criminal illegal aliens from our communities. Because of the tireless work of ICE and this administration, Maryland is becoming safer every day.”
The following day, December 10, he highlighted changes in fuel prices: “Maryland drivers are finally seeing REAL relief at the pump after Biden’s record highs. Thank you, President Trump for delivering lower gas prices in less than a year.”
On December 11, Harris referenced an individual with alleged criminal ties: “Given Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s MS-13 ties, record of domestic abuse, and indictment for human smuggling, he has no business roaming free on American…let alone Maryland…streets.”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his congressional tenure, he served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
