Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, recently used his social media platform to address legislative and public safety issues, as well as congratulate American athletes.
On February 20, 2026, Harris urged action in the Senate regarding pending legislation: “The House did its job. Now the Senate needs to do theirs. Stop the delays. PASS the SAVE Act.”
Two days later, on February 22, he posted a message celebrating a sports achievement: “Congratulations to Team USA on winning gold! https://t.co/eZjSCRv0TU”
On February 23, Harris issued a public advisory for Americans abroad: “U.S. citizens in Mexico are encouraged to stay informed and follow official travel and security updates. https://t.co/6B9UsEhrls”
Harris has served in Congress since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously held office in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris is an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1977.
