Rep. Andy Harris, who represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his official Twitter account on April 1, 2026, addressing election security, airport delays, and holiday greetings.
In his first post at 15:06 UTC, Harris commented on voting eligibility and identification requirements. He wrote, “It’s not complicated. If you don’t verify eligibility, don’t require proof of U.S. citizenship, and don’t enforce voter ID, you allow people who shouldn’t be voting to cast ballots. That dilutes the voice of every legal American voter. The SAVE America Act is about protecting the https://t.co/hjLdxai7Ew”.
Later that day at 16:00 UTC, Harris addressed transportation issues at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), attributing recent long Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines to lapses in Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding. He stated, “This is a good step forward. Hours-long TSA lines at BWI are an embarrassment—and the result of Democrats letting DHS funding lapse. Thanks to President Trump’s emergency order, TSA agents are getting paid. Maryland should act now to implement SPP so this doesn’t happen again.”
In a separate message posted at 21:36 UTC on the same day, Harris extended holiday wishes to those observing Passover: “Chag Sameach to all celebrating Passover. Wishing you a joyful and blessed holiday.”
Andy Harris has served in Congress since 2011 after replacing Frank Kratovil and previously held positions in both the Maryland House of Representatives and Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
