Rep. Andy Harris, MD, has recently made several statements on social media regarding political developments and legislative actions. Representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, Harris has been active in U.S. Congress and is a member of the Freedom Caucus.

On February 9, 2025, Rep. Harris addressed the censure of Senator Adam Schiff by the House of Representatives for spreading misinformation. He remarked on the event saying, “As a note to readers, @SenAdamSchiff was censured in the House of Representatives for spreading misinformation. Although unfortunate, it is not surprising his rhetoric is once again inaccurate.” He further commented on the National Institutes of Health’s new indirect cost rate being aligned with research institutions.

On February 11, 2025, Rep. Harris emphasized a pivotal moment in legislative proceedings by stating that “We are at a crossroads in the reconciliation process and it is time for action.” He urged fellow Republicans to support what he described as “the only strategy that exists to advance the President’s agenda.”

Later that day, Rep. Harris introduced the Emergency Border Control Resolution as part of an initiative from the Freedom Caucus known as the “218” strategy. He noted this resolution as a foundational step towards implementing President’s America First agenda: “The Emergency Border Control Resolution is the first step in the Freedom Caucus’ ‘218’ strategy to successfully implement the President’s America First agenda.”
