Rep. Andy Harris, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, addressed recent national issues in a series of posts on November 13, 2025. His comments touched on disruptions to air traffic control and food stamp distribution, criticism of insurance companies’ role in healthcare, and support for actions taken by Russ Vought regarding federal funding.
In his first post at 19:13 UTC, Harris commented on ongoing government disruptions: “We could have avoided all this, but hopefully air traffic control will get back to normal, the food stamp money will be released by tomorrow to the states… The nightmare is going to be over, but not before Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries dragged us through it.”
Later that evening at 20:20 UTC, Harris criticized health insurance companies: “The insurance companies are making hundreds of billions of dollars and they’re denying healthcare, not delivering it. So we’ve got to put it back in the hands of every American.”
At 22:17 UTC the same day, he shared news about Freedom Caucus members’ reactions to federal funding changes: “Exclusive: Freedom Caucus Members Cheer Russ Vought Ending Unlawful Funding Through the Fed.”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011. He previously served in both chambers of the Maryland legislature from 1999 until his election to Congress. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
