Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, addressed several policy issues on his Twitter account on May 1, 2026.

In a tweet posted at 2:24 a.m., Harris shared his participation in a discussion with Tony Perkins, stating: “Great to join Tony Perkins tonight to talk about protecting Americans’ financial freedom. Watch below https://t.co/5fJ52sldbO”.

Later that day, at 12:59 p.m., Harris commented on the performance of House Speaker Mike Johnson regarding legislative priorities. He wrote: “Speaker Mike Johnson entered the week with the liberal media gloating about how he could never deliver on the three major issues the House had to deal with this week — FISA, funding our border, and our much-needed Farm Bill. He not only delivered all three of these — he also”.

At 1:27 p.m., Harris posted about agricultural land use and renewable energy policy: “We should never allow solar panels to cover prime farmland in America.”

Harris has served in Congress since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously held office in the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris resides in Cambridge and holds a BS from Johns Hopkins University.
