Rep. Andy Harris, MD, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 1st district since 2011, recently addressed several issues on his social media account, including election integrity, support for law enforcement, and concerns over energy costs related to data centers.
On March 9, 2026, Harris expressed his endorsement of former President Trump and the SAVE America Act. He stated: “100% agree. Thank you, President Trump. The SAVE America Act is critical for election integrity. Time for the Senate to step up and pass it.”
The following day, Harris commented on an incident involving local law enforcement in Baltimore. On March 10, he wrote: “Please join me in praying for the Baltimore police officer injured in the line of duty earlier today and for his family. Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and I am grateful for their courage and sacrifice.”
Later that same day, Harris raised concerns about the impact of large data centers on Maryland residents’ utility costs. He posted: “Marylanders should not be paying the price for massive data centers. If companies want to build energy-intensive facilities in Maryland, they must build or secure the power needed to run them — not shift those costs onto families and small businesses.”
Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District since defeating Frank Kratovil in 2011 and previously served in both chambers of the Maryland legislature from 1999 to 2011. Born in New York City in 1957 and currently residing in Cambridge, Harris graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
