Rep. Andy Harris, currently serving Maryland’s 1st congressional district, posted a series of statements on social media on August 12, 2025, addressing issues ranging from crime in Washington, D.C., to support for local watermen and legislative achievements.

In his first post of the day, Harris wrote: “DC, like many cities run by liberal Democrats, has a serious crime problem. Thankfully, President Trump wants to help solve it.” (August 12, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Harris highlighted collaboration with Secretary Rollins regarding the Chesapeake Bay and its workers: “‘Secretary Rollins and Congressman Harris demonstrated to the citizens of the Eastern Shore that they truly care about the Bay and the watermen who make their livelihood on the Bay.’ More on the @DC_Reporter “ (August 12, 2025).

In an evening post focusing on federal legislation, Harris stated: “FACTS you won’t hear in the liberal media: The One Big Beautiful Bill secures our border, cuts billions in waste, stops the largest tax hike in history, and protects taxpayers.” (August 12, 2025).

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before joining Congress he served both in the Maryland House of Representatives and Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011.
