Harris secures $9 million for Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue upgrades

Congressman Andy Harris has announced the allocation of $9 million to the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company in Baltimore County. The funding, secured through the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation appropriations bill, will be used for building a new fire station and purchasing a ladder truck.

In his statement, Congressman Harris said: “Our volunteer firefighters are on the front lines every day protecting families, homes, and businesses in Baltimore County. This investment will give the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company the modern facilities and equipment it needs to respond quickly and safely when every second counts. It was my honor to deliver this funding for Maryland’s First District.”

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and currently resides in Cambridge. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977.
