Congressman Andy Harris has announced that $1.95 million in federal funding will be allocated to the Town of North East in Cecil County for the modernization of the Rolling Mill Finished Water Pump Station. The funds were secured through the Fiscal Year 2026 Energy and Water Development appropriations bill.
The project will involve relocating and replacing the current pump station, which is considered outdated and at the end of its operational life. The upgrades are expected to reduce risks associated with drinking water service interruptions and ensure that the facility meets modern standards.
In a statement, Congressman Harris said: “The Rolling Mill pump station is an aging piece of infrastructure in North East, Maryland, that needs to be addressed. I’m proud to have delivered this investment through the appropriations process to reduce the risk of drinking water service interruptions and strengthen the reliability of the town’s water system.”
Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. He previously served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1999 until his election to Congress. Born in New York City in 1957, Harris currently resides in Cambridge and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
