In a sequence of tweets posted on April 16, 2025, Rep. Andy Harris expressed criticism regarding certain decisions and actions taken by political figures concerning immigration and local criminal cases in Maryland.

On April 16, 2025, at 14:34:44 UTC, Harris addressed a case involving a Maryland mother who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant. He commented on “Democrat politicians” who, according to Harris, prioritized “flying to El Salvador to bring an illegal immigrant and citizen of El Salvador back to Maryland” over local issues in the community. The original message can be viewed here.

Later that day, at 16:13:11 UTC, Harris criticized U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen for allegedly using government funds to travel to a foreign country to bring an illegal immigrant to the United States. Harris claims that Van Hollen was “nowhere to be found when Rachel Morin and Kayla Hamilton were brutally murdered by illegal immigrants in Maryland.” Harris directly questioned the priorities of the “Democrat party” in his post, which can be seen here.

At 16:36:11 UTC, Harris further questioned Van Hollen’s actions during the legal proceedings of a murder case in Maryland. Harris criticized Van Hollen for allegedly not being present when a jury found an illegal immigrant guilty of murdering Rachel Morin, suggesting that Van Hollen was instead “planning a trip to El Salvador to bring an illegal alien with MS-13 terrorist connections back to Maryland.” Harris concluded by labeling the situation as “shameful,” and his original commentary is accessible here.

Andy Harris has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Maryland’s 1st District, since 2011. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives, on the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011.
