Congressman Andy Harris has announced a virtual information session for high school students interested in applying to the U.S. service academies. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 7 p.m. EST and will be held online.

Representatives from the United States Air Force Academy, United States Military Academy at West Point, United States Naval Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy, and United States Coast Guard Academy will participate in the session. They will provide details about admissions procedures, nomination requirements, and opportunities available through these institutions.

“This event offers high school students in Maryland’s First District a unique chance to learn about a path to a future of service at our nation’s military academies. I encourage students and families to join this virtual session and hear directly from academy representatives about the application process and the incredible opportunities that come with serving our country,” said Congressman Harris.

Andy Harris has represented Maryland’s 1st district in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Frank Kratovil. Before his tenure in Congress, he served on the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and now resides in Cambridge. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.

The upcoming event is open only to prospective applicants and their families; media are not permitted to attend. Those interested can register by contacting MD01Academy@mail.house.gov.
