Congressman Andy Harris announced that $2 million in federal funding has been allocated for the Swan Meadows Water and Sewer Public Infrastructure Project in Aberdeen. The City of Aberdeen will use these funds to replace aging water and sewer lines in the Swan Meadows neighborhood.
The infrastructure being replaced is over 80 years old and has become increasingly unreliable, posing risks to both service reliability and public health, especially in this underserved community.
Harris stated, “Water and sewer infrastructure in Swan Meadows has far exceeded its intended lifespan, and residents have been dealing with ongoing system failures for years. It was my honor to secure this funding to replace those systems and bring the neighborhood’s infrastructure up to modern standards.”
Andy Harris currently represents Maryland’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress after succeeding Frank Kratovil in 2011. Before his time in Congress, he served on the Maryland Senate from 1999 to 2011. Harris was born in New York City in 1957 and now lives in Cambridge. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1977.
